LaShawna Rugless, RT
Director of Respiratory Therapy
Born and raised in Rochester, New York, where she obtained her High School Diploma from Edison Career and Technology High School. LaShawna moved to Florida, where she graduated from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) in Tallahassee, Florida, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Cardiopulmonary Science. She has worked as a respiratory therapist in a number of different settings for the past eight years. LaShawna cared for patients in ICU hospitals, Long-term Acute care, home care, and nursing home facilities. Being the one person knowledgeable and competent about the heart and lungs, two of our most vital organs, feels powerful. She takes pride in saving lives and ensuring patients receive the proper respiratory care to sustain an optimal life. Her favorite part of this position is being the person who ensures the patient is breathing effectively to sustain his/her life. LaShawna likes to explore and spend time with my 11-year-old daughter in her spare time. Her favorite scripture is, “For I know the plans I have for you,” Declares the LORD, “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” - Jeremiah 29:11.
